// general

What is SHRP?+

SHRP is a speech, audio, video, and text workspace. It includes browser speech-to-text, file transcription, text-to-speech, YouTube transcript extraction, smart voice tools, REST API endpoints, and an MCP server for compatible AI clients.

Does SHRP work without an account?+

Yes. Basic microphone speech-to-text, text-to-speech previews, and public tools can be used without a paid plan. Accounts are needed for saved projects, file transcription, usage history, API keys, and plan-based quotas.

What should I use SHRP for?+

Common uses include dictating notes, transcribing meetings and lectures, extracting YouTube transcripts, generating natural voice audio, turning transcripts into summaries or action items, and connecting speech tools to automations through API or MCP.

// speech to text

How does live microphone transcription work?+

Live microphone mode uses your browser speech engine. Your microphone audio stays in the browser and is not uploaded to SHRP servers.

How does file transcription work?+

File transcription uploads your audio or video for processing with AssemblyAI. SHRP returns the transcript, timestamps, speaker labels where available, confidence data, and export formats based on your plan.

What file types are supported?+

SHRP supports common audio and video formats such as MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV, OGG, FLAC, and WebM. Limits depend on your plan.

Can SHRP transcribe long videos?+

Yes, plan limits apply. Larger files and longer recordings are best handled on paid plans because transcription consumes server-side processing and monthly minutes.

// text to speech

Can I convert text to speech?+

Yes. SHRP text-to-speech lets you choose from many voices and generate downloadable audio. Usage counts against your available TTS character quota.

Can I download the generated audio?+

Yes. Generated text-to-speech audio can be played in the browser and downloaded for offline use.

Does text-to-speech use credits or quota?+

Yes. TTS usage is counted by characters. Your available character allowance depends on your plan and any purchased credits.

// youtube transcripts

Can I extract YouTube transcripts?+

Yes. Paste a YouTube URL into the YouTube to Text tool to extract readable transcript text when captions are available.

Why does a YouTube transcript sometimes fail?+

Some videos do not have captions, block transcript access, are private, or are restricted by region. SHRP can only extract transcripts when usable caption data is available.

Can I use YouTube transcripts through the API?+

Yes. SHRP has a YouTube transcript API endpoint for developers and automations. It uses your SHRP API key and request limits.

// pdf to audio

Does SHRP support PDF to audio?+

The current PDF to Audio page is an estimator and early access waitlist. It counts readable PDF text and estimates listening time. Full PDF-to-audio generation is not generally live yet.

Do you store uploaded PDFs?+

No. The PDF-to-audio estimator does not store uploaded PDFs or extracted text permanently.

Will scanned PDFs work?+

Not yet. The current estimator supports text-based PDFs only. Scanned image PDFs are rejected with a clear unsupported message.

// smart tools

What are Smart Voice Tools?+

Smart Voice Tools turn raw speech or pasted transcript text into structured outputs such as meeting notes, action items, email drafts, summaries, reports, and invoices.

Is the invoice generator live?+

Yes. The invoice generator is available under Smart Voice Tools and helps turn natural language invoice details into a structured invoice workflow.

Do smart tools replace editing?+

No. They give you a strong first draft or structured output. You should still review names, numbers, dates, and anything business-critical.

// api and mcp

Does SHRP have an API?+

Yes. SHRP has REST API endpoints for speech-to-text transcription, text-to-speech, and YouTube transcripts. API keys are created from the dashboard.

Does the API need a separate subscription?+

No separate API subscription is required. API usage draws from your existing SHRP plan, quotas, and credits.

What is the SHRP MCP server?+

The MCP server lets compatible AI clients such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf call SHRP tools through a Model Context Protocol endpoint.

Is MCP for every user?+

Most casual users do not need MCP. It is mainly for developers, automation workflows, and AI-agent users who want SHRP tools available inside their existing client.

// privacy and billing

Do you store my audio?+

Microphone audio is not uploaded. Uploaded files are processed for transcription and are not kept as permanent audio storage by SHRP.

Are transcripts private?+

Transcripts saved to your account are tied to your user account. You can delete saved projects and history from the dashboard.

Do you use Google Analytics?+

No. SHRP avoids GA and session replay. The site uses privacy-conscious analytics for basic product visibility.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. You can manage or cancel your subscription from account settings. Your plan remains active until the end of the billing period.

Do you support students and educators?+

Yes. Students or educators with specific needs can email hello@shrp.app.

// still have questions?

Email hello@shrp.app. For support, include your account email and the tool you were using.
